Frequently asked questions
Everything people usually ask before starting their first group.
Is MemeCoop free?
Yes. Downloading MemeCoop and playing is free with the base template pack. Optional paid template packs are available, and any purchase removes ads forever.
Is it available on iPhone?
Not yet. For now MemeCoop is Android-only (7.0 or later) and you get it from Google Play.
How many people do you need to play?
There’s no strict minimum, but the game really shines with three or four people or more: more memes make the voting and the leaderboard more exciting. You can also be in several groups at once, each with its own leaderboard.
How do my friends join my group?
Create the group in the app and share its invite code. Your friends enter it when they open MemeCoop, and you, as the admin, approve each request.
Who can see my memes?
Only the members of your group. Memes are never posted to a public feed. If you want to take one out of the app, you can share it yourself.
Is voting anonymous?
Yes. You vote on memes without knowing who made them: you vote for the meme, not the person. Authors are revealed when voting closes, and nobody can vote on their own memes.
How is the score calculated?
Each vote gives 1 to 5 stars and each “Absolute Cinema” adds 3 extra points. A meme’s score is that total divided by the number of votes it gets, so what counts is average quality, not how many people vote.
When does the round close?
Each group picks the time (6:00 PM by default). At that time the day’s round closes: the posted memes go to voting and a new round begins.
What happens if I miss a day?
You don’t score that day and your streak breaks… except for the free pass: once a month, in each group, MemeCoop automatically forgives one missed round for streaks under 30 days.
What is the Meme of the Week?
A bonus award: on Sunday, the group votes for its favorite meme among the ones posted from Monday to Saturday.
What are seasons?
Every month is a season. When it ends, the leaderboard closes with its podium and champion, it’s saved to the history archive and everyone starts again from zero.
Does it have ads?
The free version shows ads. Any purchase in the in-app shop, such as a template pack, removes them forever.
Which languages is it in?
English and Spanish. The app follows your phone’s language.
